By now you have probably heard a bit about Copic markers and you may have even begun a collection but are you comfortable using them and do you know how special they really are? Copics are industry-standard, professional art markers originally from Japan. What makes these markers different from competing brands is that they are totally eco-friendly. Copic markers are refillable and the nibs are replaceable. You can even buy empty markers and mix your own unique colors (special orders only)! These markers are highly sought-after by artists and professionals from all fields of work; illustrators, graphic designers, interior designers, students, hobbyists, card makers, scrap bookers - you name it! Copic markers can be blended beautifully to create vibrant hues or toned down for soft subtle shading. For those of you wanting to learn more about how to use these awesome coloring tools, Stamping Memories is offering two opportunities in May! Each class will be taught by one of our very own Copic Certified Teachers! The first class will be held on Saturday, May 16th from 10 - Noon or 2 - 4 and the second on Saturday, May 23rd (same times). These will be two hour classes, very hands-on, and very informative yet, the class fee is only $25—which also includes 4 markers—a great bargain! Space is limited so please reserve your seat as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Additionally, if you would like to become Copic Certified for paper crafting and stamping, Stamping Memories will also be hosting a Copic Marker Certification Workshop on Sunday, June 14th, open exclusively to teachers, designers, and store owners who specialize in paper crafting (stamping, scrapbooking, and card making). Our session will be one full day, and technique driven. Space is limited, and applications are on a first-come first served basis. Class cost for this specialized class is $120 (fee set by Copic). If you qualify, please email Kris at orders@copicmarker.com to request your registration form or go here for a direct link to the form http://inkyheart.typepad.com/files/copic-cert-nh-nc_pub_0001.pdf Please call the store at 603-528-0498 if you have questions or you would like to register for either of our May Copic 101 classes.

It’s beginning to feel a bit like Spring outside but it is definitely feeling and looking like it inside the store! We’ve been receiving a lot of great NEW products lately as well as restocking many staples that we were running low on—thanks to you, our great customers! Late last week, ALL of the new colors of Tim Holtz’s Distress Stickles and Suze Weinberg’s Glitz Stickles arrived and they are selling like hot cakes! No wonder—with all the gorgeous, glittery colors—who can resist them? We also received ALL of the new colors of the Adirondack Alcohol Inks—in both Brights and Lights. They too are gorgeous and so versatile. Have you ever tried making polished stone backgrounds for your cards? It’s an awesome technique and so easy! Hmmm, maybe we should teach it soon. We also have lots of new rubber stamps on order and, soon, many new, adorable, Stamping Bella unmounted stamps will be arriving. So, if you are a Bella fan, visit the store often to make sure you get yours before they are all gone... Finally, don’t forget about all the great classes coming up here at Stamping Memories where you can “try before you buy” many of the products you are curious about. You can check out our class schedule online or view our beautiful sample cards the next time you are in the store. And now, until next time, happy paper crafting! Nanette

On Tuesday, April 7th, Stamping Memories will be bringing back one of our most popular classes--STENCIL PASTE CARDS--taught by Bette Moreau. Bette will be returning for two classes (morning 10 - Noon and evening 7 - 9). These are brand new card designs using newly released metal stencils from Dreamweaver. Please register quickly! If you have never learned how to use these unique products properly, you won’t want to miss this opportunity. Bette will teach you how to use Dreamweaver's high quality metal (stainless steel or brass) stencils, along with their wonderful selection of stencil pastes, to add visual interest, texture and dimension to your cards and other projects. You will also learn how to add an element of gorgeous sparkle, with ultra fine glitter, on at least one card in this class. Please note: the picuture shown does not do justice to the actual card--you can't see the sparkle! Be sure to ask to see the card in person the next time you are in the store. Three lovely cards will be made in class. If you have previously taken any of our Stencil Paste Classes, please bring your palette knife to class for your own use. You will receive one of the metal stencils used in class instead of another palette knife. Class fee $18 (includes palette knife to keep)

Hello Everyone, It has been a pleasure to meet you all. Thank you for your warm and inspiring words of wisdom. The comments that we have received on our new location have been encouraging, knowing that we have been able to acheive the long awaited expansion of Stamping Memories. We are in the process of learning the numerous tasks that Liz was able to do so effortlessly. We are still struggling to do the class schedule in a timely manner and we appreciate your patience. Hopefully we will be able to have this issue worked out within the next month or two. Our current class schedule is available both on the web and in the store. The variety of classes have been expanded beyond just cards to include scrapbooking and journal making and mini-books. If there is something you are interested in learning, we would love to hear your suggestions and we will try to incorporate them into future classes. Some of the many exciting things we will be doing in the future is the Second Annual Shop Hop to be held this coming April. We have been given the opportunity to host a Copic Certification Event in June and are also in the process of developing several types of workshops, some featuring Copic Markers and Ranger products. Details will be posted once everything has been finalized. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to the store. We appreciate each and every one of you, thank you so much for your loyal support. Nanette and the staff of Stamping Memories

Dear friends, customers, and students, As most of you are now aware, Stamping Memories has finally moved out of our 45 Court Street location in Laconia. Due to several delays, it appears that there may be about a week of downtime before Nanette Hamley, the store’s new owner, reopens at The Belknap Mall—just up the street from where we were. Although it isn’t quite ready to open, the new store looks amazing! It is located on the Shaw’s side of the mall three doors down from Hair Excitement and across from CVS. The size of the store is more than twice the space we have had—finally giving us the extra room we have needed for expansion. The color scheme Nanette has chosen is truly beautiful and because she kept many of the same design elements of the original store, it feels warm and familiar yet polished and poised for growth. Because of the additional space and new layout, the product arrangement will be much more organized. A greatly expanded scrap book section will finally become a reality with many more albums, papers and embellishments. Additionally, she will continue to add and focus on rubber stamping products and classes in order to maintain Stamping Memories’ reputation of, what many consider to be, the premier rubber stamp store in Northern New England. This is a very exciting time for Stamping Memories and though the delays have made the transition difficult and at times very unsettling, I believe the future is bright, the possibilities are endless, and the best is yet to come for this well loved store. It has been my pleasure to get to know so many of you over the past ten years and I will miss you all. Though change is never easy, it is a part of life and, as I leave to begin this exciting new chapter, Nanette is beginning one of her own. I hope you will give her the same loyal patronage and support that you have always given me. I look forward to seeing you all again whenever I am in town visiting the new Stamping Memories. With my deepest appreciation, Liz Verhoeks

As most of you know, Stamping Memories will soon have a new owner. My name is Nanette Hamley and I am very excited about continuing classes and maintaining the excellent reputation that Liz and her staff have built over the last ten years. I am eager to add new and innovative classes in both card making and scrapbook design. We will be moving to the Belknap Mall in the next few weeks and because of the many details of such a major move, we will not be holding classes in October. However, beginning in November, I would like to begin with a new, exciting class schedule that will include last minute card and Christmas gift ideas as well as scrapbooking classes and crops. I would like to begin interviewing teachers as soon as possible to ensure that a staff of qualified instructors will be established by November. If you are interested in teaching at this great store, I would love to discuss the mutually beneficial advantages of working together. Please email me at info@nhstampingmemories.com at your earliest convenience. Sincerely, Nanette

So, it seems that what recently appeared to be a very possible end of our store has turned into a most promising outlook for the future of Stamping Memories and all those who love it. One very determined buyer and a seller willing to wait has resulted in a win-win situation for all concerned. Stamping Memories will be moving forward under the new ownership of someone eager to take it to even greater heights, in a new location, with all the additional space and amenities it so deserves. For a long time, as most of you know, we have been too cramped to adequately showcase all that the paper crafting industry has to offer—not to mention, accommodate our ever increasing number of class attendees. Well all of that is about to change! We are very excited to say that the end of our long waiting is almost over and soon we will have all of the glorious room we need. A wonderfully bright and open space at The Belknap Mall is being prepared to be the new home of Stamping Memories. We anticipate the move to be complete by the end of October if all goes according to plan. I am confident that there are many great and exciting things ahead for the store and I am eager to see the changes to come. Although I will miss all of the many friends I have made over the years as proprietor of the store, just knowing that you will each find a new friend in the new owner, Nanette, makes the thought of leaving much easier. I hope that you will welcome her with the same warmth you have always shown me and that you will grow to love the new Stamping Memories as much as the old one. Thank you for the many years of memories and unending support. Blessings to you always, Liz

Although I was concerned that the rumor mill would start turning as soon as I publicly announced that Stamping Memories is for sale, I also knew our time frame for needing to vacate our building is shrinking. So, I made the decision to go public in order to find the right buyer in the timeliest manner. As expected, speculation is running wild and the qualms I had about announcing my decision have proven to be somewhat justified. Many people have expressed feelings of sadness, surprise and worry that the store “just won’t be the same”. Some have already formed opinions about what the new store is going to be like. While it is normal to be uncomfortable with change, it is good to remember that change can, at times, also be good. Change in this case will finally give Stamping Memories the long awaited opportunity for additional growth and expansion, improved visual display of merchandise, a much larger classroom area, and the implementation of many wonderful new ideas. I have every reason to believe that this well loved store will continue to grow and flourish. I am also believing that it will continue to be as, one customer recently called it, “a wonderfully unique gem and a fabulous shopping experience”. I have been approached by several interested parties and currently am in negotiations with someone who is very excited about owning this business and is taking the necessary steps to make it a reality. Her goal is to keep the same style, feel and inventory choices as we currently have only she will have the space to add many new items, expand classes, and be open evenings and Sundays! The location we are hopeful of obtaining is very near to our current one with plenty of parking and, best of all, more than twice the space! I know it will be different and it will take time for everyone to adjust to the changes, but it is my belief that the changes made possible by a move of this type will make Stamping Memories even better than it has been. It is my sincere hope that you will all eagerly look forward to the grand opening of the new store and continue to support it the same way you have supported this one for the past ten years. Liz

As shocking as it may sound, we are looking for a special someone or a partnership group to take Stamping Memories to the next level. Could that someone be you? If you have ever dreamed of owning your own business please consider the following.
As many of you know, over the last few years we have outgrown our current location and we have eagerly anticipated moving to a larger space. It looks as if the long awaited sale of our building is going to be finalized this summer which will necessitate the relocation of the business. We are excited to finally have the opportunity of seeing our plans for a bigger, better Stamping Memories put into action. However, there has been one major change. We have realized that we want to live closer to our family and that means the business will need a new owner if it is to continue operating in New Hampshire.
I have seriously considered moving the entire store to the New York town that is to become our new home, but I know that would be a huge disappointment to the many local, regional, and seasonal friends/customers who have loyally supported the store in Laconia all these years. So, for a limited time, a unique opportunity exists for the right person to step in and benefit from the fruits of our labor by carrying on a business that has become a favorite destination for so many.
We've spent over 10 years building a successful retail business which currently has a customer base of almost 1500 people. Our store is considered by many to be the best of its kind in Northern New England and we are extremely proud of that reputation. The business is very profitable and has grown each year since its beginning. We have put a very attractive price on it to try to ensure a quick sale.
We have explored several options for a new storefront in Laconia, Gilford, Belmont and Alton. Although we now feel strongly that it would be best to keep it as close to its current location as possible, there may be other areas that could also work. The choices are almost endless but we will certainly make ourselves available to help the new owners choose the right location, get the business re-established, and offer extensive training as needed.
The "ideal" candidate for our business would have a love of paper crafting and, in particular, an interest in rubber stamping and/or scrap booking. One of the integral parts of the business has always been our year round, weekly classes, so the ability or at least the willingness to teach would also be an asset. Should Stamping Memories’ new location end up being within a close proximity of our current one, at least one of our teachers has expressed a desire to stay on. She is adept at running our computerized cash register, has a good understanding of product usage and sales, and provides excellent customer service.
Further details including price and inclusions in the sale will be made available to serious interested parties only. This opportunity will only exist for a limited time so please express your interest as soon as possible if you would like to discuss the possibility of owning this unique, fun and lucrative retail business.
Please send inquiries via email to info@nhstampingmemories.com All correspondence will be handled in confidence.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Verhoeks
Owner
